Since the day that he arrived in Gainesville as the new Florida head coach, Dan Mullen has done an exceptionally well in his short tenure. When athletic director Scott Stricklin first announced the hiring of Mullen, he described the coach as the best equipped candidate for “the immediate and future success” of Florida’s football program.
Well, immediate success is exactly what Dan Mullen delivered in 2018. All of that momentum will now spill over onto the recruiting trail.
In addition to putting together a 10-win season in year one, capped off with blowouts of Florida State and Michigan, Florida will crank things up even more with an incredible 2019 recruiting class.
All indicators point to the Gators finishing inside of the top 10 nationally when all is said and done with national signing day, coming up on Wednesday, February 6. Florida could even potentially finish as high as inside of the top five overall.
Here are the recruits that the Gators most need to land on signing day:
This four star defensive end hails from Fort Lauderdale, where he destroyed his high school competition. He could be next in a long line of elite defensive backs to suit up in orange and blue.
Stealing a recruit that Alabama so desperately wants would speak volumes about the state of Florida’s program. Check out Bogle’s highlights in the video below. What a monster of an athlete this young man is.
People love to throw around Percy Harvin comparisons, when frankly, there may never be another college football player quite on that level. That being said, Mark-Antony Richards is a total game changer and about as Harvin-esque as we have seen in high school.
As a 4-star athlete from West Palm Beach, Richards does a little bit of everything on the high school gridiron. He plays on both offense and defense. This stud playmaker is electric as a wide receiver and impressive in the secondary.
Check out some of his highlights below:
Landing this incredible DB over Georgia would be massive for the Gator program. On the flip side of things, it would really hurt to lose a legacy prospect like him to Georgia, as he has family ties to the University of Florida.
It seems like just yesterday that Gator great Matt Elam was suiting up in orange and blue and terrorizing SEC offenses. The highlight reel play of Matt laying out LSU’s Odell Beckham Jr. in 2012 still brings chills. He was a force to be reckoned with.
Fast forward to 2018 and a new elite Elam defensive back has emerged from high school. Matt’s nephew, Kaiir Elam, is a four star corner that is part of the 2019 recruiting cycle. This stud playmaker is an ESPN 300 and Under Aromour All-American athlete. It obviously runs in the family. Kaiir’s father and Matt’s older brother, Abe Elam, was also a NFL safety.
Check out some of this highlights from a Rivals camp below. This Elam would fit right in at DBU.
