It’s been nearly a decade since things looked so bright in Gainesville. Dan Mullen and company are absolutely crushing the 2020 and 2021 recruiting trails, restoring the “Gator Standard” to the Florida football roster.
Most recently, the Gators reeled in a four-star stud playmaker at wide receiver in Leonard Manuel. This coveted 2020 prospect committed to Florida over Georgia and other top tier schools, sending a major statement about the direction of the Florida program.
Make no mistake – Leonard Manuel is elite. In all likelihood, he is just one good season away from being rated as a five-star. He currently sits at the #36 overall spot in the 2020 class. He will not travel very far to the University of Florida campus, as he currently attends Ocala’s Vanguard High School.
Manuel’s commitment could pay further dividends on the recruiting trail. He is reportedly a popular guy with other members of the 2020 class and could be a big time recruiter for the Gators.
Since the beginning of the 2018 football season, Florida has received commitments from eight blue chip players in the 2020 and 2021 classes. In the same amount of time, in-state rival FSU has not gained a single commitment and Miami has lost the commitments of four blue chips.
