Mullen will soon dominate SEC, according to Florida standout

Special Teams

With only one year removed from one of the worst seasons in Florida football history, first-year head coach Dan Mullen propelled his team to heights that none could have imagined. The 10-3 Gators shocked the world by blowing out Michigan 41-15, as they had their way with the nation’s number one ranked defense.

There is no doubt about it – the future is bright in Gainesville.

But Gator fans aren’t the only ones who get a sense of where Florida football is headed. Many players seem to think that Florida will enjoy national prominence for years to come.

“He wants to be a big time coach, like the Saban of the league. He’s gonna be that very soon,” said Jachai Polite, following his team’s blowout out Michigan. “The league is about to be his. I don’t care what anybody says, it will be his.”

For Polite, the light really came on in 2018, as it did for so many others on the Florida roster. Mullen squeezed every drop of talent out of his players and finally gave fans a team that they could be proud of. From the day Mullen first walked onto campus, the Gators consistently improved from start to finish and the final result against Michigan showed just how far this squad came.

“I don’t think a lot of teams would be lining up to play us right now,” Mullen said following the Peach Bowl. He’s right.
